'Harman and Harman' is a retail shop/workshop located in Carterton, the heart of the Wairarapa, New Zealand.

With collective interests in all things handmade, husband and wife team Brett and Lisa Harman try to use recycled materials where possible, they like to design and make original ideas and try to keep each piece unique. Their home based business has allowed them to provide a retreat for their daughter Sophie and to raise two happy teenage boys Finn and Mitchell.

The Harman's moved from Hawkes Bay to Carterton about 10 years ago. Having completed one house [Your Home Magazine Aug 1998] they were ready for something quite different. After purchasing some land near the main highway they built a country house using an old cyclone barn, with strawbale ends. This created quite a stir within the Greater Wellington region and caught the attention of TVNZ. The house became part of a national competion in which the nation voted for their favourite house. It won! Film crews from England came and featured it on 'Extreme Houses of the World' which was televised around world.

Since then the gardens have established and a new building development has grown. This includes the shop 'Harman and Harman', a soon to be finished private accomodation studio for two and a pink Italian tower from which a view of the gardens and a glass of wine is essential.
